




The training on manufacturing of value-added coconut products is being conducted for 3 days from 2nd to 4th October and the training is aimed at producing new foodstuff items, supporting coconut growers, increasing income and development of micro, small and medium enterprises.
Htay Htay Wai, Assistant Director, Small Scale Industries Dept., said " I conduct 5 subjects that are the making process of coconut ice-cream, coconut syrup, jelly, coconut powder and oil. I teach the course at 30% theoretically and 70 % practically. The trainings on manufacturing of coconut-based foodstuff are extensively conducted in the internationals. By conducting the training, the people can consume coconut basic foodstuff at reasonable prices."
It scales up the skills of the trainees to manufacture coconut-rooted food products with value addition.
Thurein, Trainee, said " In Nay Pyi Taw, there are still very few people who produce value-added coconut products. We throw by-products of coconut. The training conducts to produce coconut juice, coconut flesh and even though coconut shell to produce value-added products. I like making process of coconut jelly in the course."
Sithu Zaw, Trainee, said " We can produce personal and consumers goods from coconuts and we can create income. We don’t understand about this before. Through the training, we know the methods to make value-added products from coconuts."
The experts offer courses with practical and theoretical approaches to manufacture value-added food products such as coconut ice cream, jelly, coconut oil, coconut powder and coconut candies and non-food products such as soaps and coconut shell charcoal.
