Vaccines arrival: Second batch of Sputnik Light vaccines arrived

COVID-19 vaccine is being injected widely by specifying priority groups in Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States up to the rural villages for prevention and control of the disease.

Regarding the further arrivals of the COVID-19 vaccines, out of one million doses of Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccines, including 400000 doses of vaccines donated by Russia Federation and 600000 doses of vaccines purchased, 488,000 doses of vaccines arrived on 13th January, 2022 as the first batch.

At 5:15 a.m. on January 16, 512,000 doses of vaccines arrived at Yangon International Airport through QATAR Airline as second batch and were received by the responsible officials of Yangon Region Medical Services/ Public Health Departments. So, a total of one million doses of Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccines have arrived so far to date.

The vaccines are stored in the central vaccine storage of Public Health Department, Min Dama Road, Mayangone Township, Yangon Region without breaking the cold chain. The Sputnik Light vaccine developed by Russia Federation can be administered one time only so as to ensure more coverage of vaccination in a short time.  

Regarding the completion of vaccination, up to 15th January, 2022, a total of over 21.36 million people have been vaccinated. Of them, over 17.56 million people have been vaccinated two times and over 3.8 million people once.

Therefore, a total of 38.92 million doses of COVID-19 jabs have been vaccinated. The Ministry of Health has received a total of 59.1 million doses of vaccines including 45 million doses purchased and 14.1 million doses donated.

The people are urged to receive the COVID-19 vaccines, and those who have already received the first dose are encouraged to go to the nearest immunization centres and receive the second dose on the scheduled immunization date or near the due date, as well as to actively participate in the vaccination activities.
