A US Navy warship Savannah docked in the southern port of Sihanoukville, Cambodia on Monday.  The first such visit in eight years comes at a time, which it counts as one of its closest allies in the region.

Cambodia's defense ministry said the visit -- made at America's request is aimed at strengthening friendship and promoting cooperation between the two countries. During the Savannah's five-day visit, members of its crew of around 100 will meet officials of the Ream base.
