The United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on Saturday, with Israel's public broadcaster reporting that supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been targeted.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the action as a "joint operation" with the US and said to remove an existential threat. Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, other American interests in the Gulf and Israel. It was known that Iranian strikes had killed one civilian in United Arab Emirates and 24 people killed in Iran.

The attacks came after US President Donald Trump announced US’s goal was eliminating imminent threats from Iran. Iran, Neighboring countries such as Kuwait, Syria and the UAE  all closed their airspaces to civilian traffic and multiple airlines cancelled flights to the Middle East.
