US F-16 fighter jet crashes off South Korea, pilot rescued

A US military F-16 jet fighter crashed off the west coast of South Korea on Wednesday and the pilot was rescued after safely ejecting from the aircraft.

The crash took place at about 8:40 a.m. local time, according to the sources. It did not provide a possible cause for the incident that took place near a US airbase in Gunsan. US Forces Korea did not respond to a request for comment. This is the third crash of an American F-16 fighter jet in South Korea since May 2023.
