US, Egypt, Qatar leaders call for Gaza ceasefire talks

Israel has agreed to resume Gaza ceasefire talks on August 15. The US White House released a joint statement from the three leaders on Thursday. According to the statement, the leaders of the United States, Egypt and Qatar want Israel and the Islamic group Hamas to resume negotiations on August 15.

The leaders offered to "present a final bridging proposal that resolves the remaining implementation issues in a manner that meets the expectations of all parties." The statement added that the leaders have asked Israel and Hamas to resume urgent discussions next Thursday in Doha or Cairo.
