A Christmas tree from Six Rivers National Forest in California arrives at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington on Friday. The tree is scheduled to be on display throughout the holiday season.

This year Capitol Christmas Tree is an 84-foot white fir from northern California nicknamed "Sugar Bear," that traveled 4500 miles across the country to become a holiday attraction. The tree was cut down on October 23 and made stops in 25 cities on its journey from the forest of the Mad River Ranger District to the U.S. Capitol to kick off the 2021 festive season.

The tree will be decorated with handcrafted ornaments from California communities and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will light the tree officially in December.
