US and Canadian athletes arrive in Bejing ahead of Games

Athletes from the United States and Canada arrived in Beijing on Friday ahead of the Winter Olympics opening in the Chinese capital next week.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV released images of the US and Canadian teams going through quarantine procedures with Chinese immigration and customs staff in protective suits.

According to the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee, all athletes must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or quarantine for 21 days in order to compete in Beijing. The Chinese capital received nearly 1,500 athletes, officials and other personnel for the Games on Friday, CCTV reported.
