Aerial images show flooding in the northern Uruguayan city of Salto after rivers overflowed following heavy rains. More than 2,000 people have been forced to flee their homes, Uruguay's crisis response agency said.
Uruguay, a small country of 3.5 million inhabitants located between Brazil and Argentina, is recording significant rainfall attributed to the El Nino weather phenomenon, after suffering months ago from drinking water supply problems in the southwest region caused by the worst drought in seven decades.
