Urgent need to vaccinate: Prevention, control and treatment measures for the public health

In Myanmar, from the beginning of the 4th  wave of COVID-19 epidemic from the end of January until now, according to the analysis of laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 patients and their vaccination processes, 80% of those who have infected did not receive fully vaccination at all, almost 16% of all positive cases were those who have only received the 1st dose and 4% of infected people were those who had received the vaccination fully and 0.1% of infected persons are those who have received the booster doses.

The COVID-19 epidemic has been genetically modified and is spreading among people and there are still many outbreaks in many countries, including neighboring countries. Omicron, a genetic variant of COVID-19, is more contagious than other genetic variants.

Omicron can be infected to people without showing any symptoms and it can suffer severe illness and can cause death from a mild COVID-19 symptoms. In addition, omicron is a dangerous viral genre and currently, omicron strains BA.4 and BA.5 are the most common.

Among the regions and states, Yangon Region has the highest number of COVID-19 confirmed cases, followed by Kayin state as the 2nd and Mandalay Region as the 3rd.

In Myanmar, the Ministry of Health has been accelerating COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures and continuously releasing announcements and information about the epidemic, warnings and methods to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.

In addition, the number of deaths is rising with the high rate of local transmission of the SARS-COV-2 virus; it is necessary for everyone to receive fully vaccination against the COVID-19 disease and it is advised to follow the COVID-19 prevention rules, it is learnt.
