Urgent actions to fight IUU fishing

The European Commission (EC) has rescheduled an illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing inspection in Vietnam from May to this autumn.

The rescheduled visit is now slated for September to October instead of its initial date in May. Various provinces have implemented robust measures to combat IUU fishing and promote sustainable development within the fisheries sector.

Concerns have arisen regarding the management of fishing vessels, encompassing aspects such as productivity monitoring, traceability, and voyage tracking, prompting attention from local authorities. The EC's fourth IUU fishing inspection conducted in Vietnam last October indicated positive strides in addressing these issues.
