The Lahe Township Development Affairs Committee is undertaking the upgrading works at Moe Dan Resort Lake to provide a public recreation area for the township.

Moe Dan Lake, located in the Karlam Ward of Lahe Township in the Naga Self-Administered Zone, was previously a swamp, and it covers an area of about three acres.

During the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Sagaing Region Government allocated over 81 million kyat to transform this area into a resort lake. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the regional government has allotted over 284 million kyat for further upgrading works.

Assistant Director, LaheTownshipDevelopment Affairs Committee, Nyi Nyi Htwe said " The upgrade of Moe Dan Lake is being carried out with the budget allocation for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The upgrade includes the extension of the pathway around the lake, raising the height of the embankment, and gravel paving. These works are now 90% complete."

With a depth of 12 feet, Moe Dan Lake can store about 10 million gallons of water. Upon completion of the upgrade, the lake will become a recreational area for locals to enjoy throughout all three seasons.

Assistant Director, Lahe Township Development Affairs Committee, Nyi Nyi Htwe said " This lake will serve as a recreational spot for the people of Lahe Township. It will also contribute to the town’s drinking water supply and act as a natural water source in case of wildfires."

Plans are underway to pave the circular road with concrete in the coming year, along with the installation of colorful lights. In addition, benches will be placed for the convenience of public recreation, and the area will be beautified with a floral landscape.
