Union Government Meeting: President delivered the opening address

The Union Government meeting was held on Monday afternoon at the Union Government Meeting Hall of the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw.

The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, delivered an address. The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents U Nyo Saw and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union Ministers, and the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council. Region and State Chief Ministers participated via video conferencing.

In his opening address, the President stated that this meeting was the first meeting of his government and that he wished to discuss matters needing attention over the five-year term. He recalled that when he was sworn in as President, he responded to media questions by saying that he would prioritize achieving national stability and development. Similarly, when asked what message he wished to convey to the people, he replied that he wanted to urge them to remain united and to work together.

He emphasized that his government must act based on the goal of achieving national stability and development. Regarding the government's priorities for the first 100 days, the President announced that the period from today, April 20, to July 31 would be designated as the first 100 days. Concerning the issue of PDFs, he stated: "Within the 100 days, come forward for peace. Regarding EAOs, both NCA signatories and Non- signatories are invited for peace discussions. Meetings and negotiations will be held before July 31."

The President further announced that regarding the government's 100-day plan, the Ministry of Finance and Revenue would implement a program to increase loan amounts and disburse higher loans to farmers. Similarly, for railway improvement, all railway lines would be upgraded as much as possible.

In the telecommunications sector, 27 new mobile towers would be expanded within the 100 days, and 9 mobile tower sites would be upgraded to 4G LTE. Rural water supply and solar-powered water pumping systems would also be implemented. The Ministry of Education would establish pilot universities to enhance research capacity, primarily designating Nay Pyi Taw State Academy, Yangon University, and Mandalay University as pilot universities for research and activation activities.

The President concluded by stating that as the government works for the good of the nation, it must combine individual experiences to achieve the best outcomes and strive for the benefit of the country and the people. He urged everyone to think and act with the determination to work for the good of the country.

During the general discussions, Union Ministers and the Kachin State Chief Minister presented matters concerning submissions made to the Union Government, MoUs, MOA contracts, tender invitations, the status of conducting on-site issuance of citizenship scrutiny cards for children reaching the age of 10, the expansion of eID data collection activities, and issues related to awareness of the confluence of the Ayeyawady River. After discussing and reviewing the presentations, the President delivered the concluding remarks, it’s learnt.
