UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting held in New Delhi

The 46th UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting is set to take place in New Delhi from July 21st to 31st. The venue will be in Bharat Mandapam Convention Center.

This will be the first time for India to host this event. Bring together delegates from around the world to discuss and deliberate on the preservation of cultural and natural heritage sites. In addition to this, the inaugural ceremony will be graced by the Director General of UNESCO and other senior officers from the UNESCO World Heritage Secretariat along with other high-level dignitaries.

The World Heritage Convention of 1972 sets out the duties of States Parties in identifying potential Cultural, Natural sites for inscription on the World Heritage List. 195 countries have ratified the Convention as of date. India ratified the Convention in November 1977.
