United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate halt to the escalating violence in Sudan, warning that the crisis is worsening rapidly.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Guterres urged Sudan’s forces to negotiate a settlement and voiced concern over Gaza ceasefire violations.

Antonio Guterres , United Nations Secretary-General said "I call for an end to the flow of weapons and fighters into Sudan, which is making a desperate situation even worse. Finally, we need an immediate cessation of hostilities. I call on both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to work with my Personal Envoy for Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, towards a negotiated settlement. Come to the negotiating table. Bring an end to this nightmare of violence — now. It's time for peace."

The UN chief urged all parties in both conflicts to respect ceasefires and work toward lasting solutions.
