
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterreshas launched a 397 million USD appeal to help millions of survivors of last week’s devastating earthquake in rebel-held northwest Syria.
The appeal will provide “desperately needed, life-saving relief for nearly 5 million Syrians – including shelter, health care, food and protection” for three months.He urged donors to provide the emergency funding without delay saying this is the most effective way to stand with the Syrian people in their hour of need.The secretary-general announced that Syrian President Bashar Assad had agreed to open two additional border crossings to northwest Syria from Turkiye.
