UK, Turkiye sign $11-bn Eurofighter deal as Starmer visits

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Tuesday visited a BAE Systems facility in Warton, northwest England. The visit follows a day after signing an agreement to sell Eurofighter jets to Turkiye in a 10-year deal worth nearly $11 billion. 

Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister said "We were there, arriving, to sign this huge deal with Turkiye for 20 [Eurofighter] Typhoons with an option for another 20. That is a massive order, it's the biggest order we've had in the best part of a generation. Eight billion pounds, 20,000 jobs in all, including of course most importantly six or seven thousand here and in the northwest."

After talks with Starmer on Monday, Turkiye President Erdogan hailed the agreement as "a new symbol of the strategic relations" with Britain.
