UK trains grind to halt in national rail strike

The Secretary-General of the UK's Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said on Saturday its members "aren't prepared to accept" an offer on contracts and pay put forward this week to try and put an end to strikes across the country.

Rail workers have brought train services to a grinding halt and are forming picket lines across the country over pay, cuts to jobs and terms. More than 40,000 RMT members were striking on Saturday, as well as other transport workers, affecting services across the country.
