UK PM warns of 'tidal wave' of omicron variant

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday announced that the government would be launching an emergency booster campaign to avoid a severe rise in hospitalisations and deaths from a "tidal wave of omicron".

Boris Johnson, U.K. Prime Minister said “No one should be in any doubt there is a tidal wave of omicron coming, and I'm afraid it is now clear that two doses of vaccine are simply not enough to give the level of protection we all need."

The booster programme would be offered to everyone over the age of 18 in the U.K., with extra capacity provided by "additional vaccine sites and mobile units" and "42 military planning teams across every health region".
