
Representatives from 40 nations, including the US, China, and France, gathered in London for a two-day summit focused on combating illegal migration.
At the summit, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed the need for global collaboration to dismantle smuggling networks. Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister said "We can only smash these gangs once and for all if we work together. Because this evil trade, it exploits the cracks between our institution. It pits nations against one another. It profits from our inability at the political level to come together."
The UK government is committing £33m to disrupt smuggling operations and boost prosecutions. Starmer aims to position the UK as a leader in tackling irregular migration, stressing that international cooperation is essential to protect UK borders and ease pressure on public services.
