UK PM urges continuing strong support for Ukraine

Outgoing British prime minister Boris Johnson urged Western allies on Wednesday to maintain their strong support for Ukraine. Johnson paid a surprise visit to Kyiv and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy president, as the country celebrated the 31st anniversary of its independence. Johnson was given Ukraine's Order of Liberty medal in recognition of Britain's military assistance to the war-torn country. Zelenskyy said despite the devastating destruction caused by the conflict and the resulting financial crisis he believed Ukrainians had overcome major political difficulties experienced over the 31 years of the country's independence.
