Non-consultant hospital doctors in the UK, known as junior doctors, have been offered a new pay deal by the government which could see their wages rise by 22.3 percent over two years and put an end to strike action.

The industrial action, which began in March 2023, was driven by demands for a 35 percent pay increase to make up for years of below-inflation pay rises. The strikes, totaling 44 days, led to the cancellation of non-urgent procedures.
