Firefighters were tackling forest fires in Surrey, in the south of England, on Saturday. The fires have broken out as a result of drought conditions for large parts of the UK.The Environment Agency (EA) has said drought could persist into the next year.
The announcement could lead to more measures such as hosepipe bans, however, the EA has reassured the public that essential water supplies are safe.Eight of 14 areas designated by the EA have now moved to "drought."
