UK Christmas Eve getaway hit by rail strike

Rail passengers hoping to make it to loved ones across the UK in time for Christmas Day suffered serious setbacks on Saturday as much of the railway network came to a standstill.

A strike by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union meant some services did not run at all, while others stopped early. Disappointed passengers had to seek alternative forms of travel as they rushed to reunite with friends and family for Christmas.
