The Union Election Commission issued Notification No. (180/2025) on December 30, 2025, regarding election rallies, political speeches, and campaigning. The notification states that The Union Election Commission has already issued Notification No. (151/2025) on 28-11-2025, announcing the permitted campaign period and the days on which campaigning must be suspended for the townships included in Phase (1) and Phase (2) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election, which commenced on December 28, 2025.
Since the list of 63 townships included in Phase (3) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election was announced via Notification No. (170/2025) on 25-12-2025, election-related rallies, political speeches, and campaigning for the townships in Phase (3) may continue from January 12, 2026.
However, they must be suspended from 12:00 midnight on January 23, 2026, until the completion of the Phase (3) election on January 25, 2026. Campaign advertisements and posters for the Phase (3) townships must be removed by no later than 12:00 midnight on January 23, 2026. During the designated campaign period, the distribution of printed leaflets, the erection of billboards and vinyl posters, the holding of public rallies, political speeches, and campaigning through media must be carried out in accordance with Section 30(a) of the relevant Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Election Law and the provisions of Chapter (10) of its by-laws.
Campaign advertisements and posters for Phase (1) and Phase (2) townships must be removed by the last day of the permitted campaign period for those respective parts. If campaign advertisements and posters are not removed by the specified time, the Township Sub Election Commissions shall coordinate with the relevant City Development Committee or Township Development Committee to have them removed. The cost incurred for such removal operations shall be borne by the relevant political party or candidate, who will be responsible for reimbursing the expenses.
