UEC announcements: Approval of registration and party dissolution

The Union Election Commission issued an announcement No 46/47/2023 on 20th November, 2023 allowing the political parties to be registered as political parties.

Under Article 9 of the Political Parties Registration Law, it was announced that the (Modern People Party) with its headquarters located at Room No-101, Building No (100/101), Aung Thukha Street, Ward No.5, Kamayut Township, Yangon Region, (Labour Party) with its headquarters located at No. 33/49, corner of Maha Bandula Park Road and Bank Road, Kyauktada Township, Yangon Region have been approved for registration.

The registration number of (Modern People Party) and (Labour Party) are 41 and 42 respectively.According to an announcement No (48) issued by UEC on the same day, it’s reported that the management committee meeting of the Union Election Commission held on 20th November decided to desolve Shan State Kokang Democratic Party for failing to submit the minimum number of party members (1000) within 90 days after granting to establish as political party.

The announcements were signed by the Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Thein Soe.
