UAE FM offers Syrian president his condolences

United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday met with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus to express his condolences for those who died in Monday's devastating earthquake.

The foreign minister also expressed his commitment to continue sending aid to Syria. The UAE, which among Arab countries has made the most significant steps in rekindling ties with the once isolated Assad government, sent several planes loaded with aid to Syrian airports and launched a national campaign to support the country.
