Typhoon Yagi causes a major bridge to collapse in northern Viet Nam

A major bridge Phong Chau has collapsed in northern Viet Nam on 9th September after Typhoon Yagi hit the region, bringing flash floods and landslides.

According to initial reports, several motorbikes and cars have fallen into the river, but the exact number of vehicles and the extent of damage to people and property have not yet been confirmed.

A witness said there were vehicles on the bridge, including a truck and several motorbikes, when the bridge collapsed. The 375-metre Phong Chau Bridge crosses the Red River in Phu Tho province.
