Thousands of workers rallied in Madrid on Thursday in a protest called by Spain's labor unions to demand higher wages to combat the higher prices driven up by global inflation. Spain's two major unions marched through the capital.

They want the government and business leaders to agree to raise the minimum salary above the current 1,000 euros a month to handle rampant inflation.

Spain has been swept up in global price hikes this year.  Inflation peaked at nearly 11% in Spain, but that increase has moderately slowed to 7.3% in October.
