Two dead as small plane crashes in Ecuador

A small plane crashed on Tuesday amid two populous neighborhoods in northern Guayaquil, leaving two people dead and one injured, the chief of the fire department and authorities reported.

The city's mayor said she personally observed the accident because she was two blocks away from the accident on a working visit.

Rescue personnel were keeping the impact area fenced off. No residents or houses have been affected, according to preliminary information. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the plane was traveling between the cities of Manta, 380 kilometers southwest of the capital, and Guayaquil.
