Turkiye celebrates 101st anniversary of its Victory Day

Turkiye celebrated the 101st anniversary of Victory Dayon Wednesday. Victory Day marks the final battle against Greek forces in Dumlupinar in 1922, and is dedicated to Turkish armed forces.

Nationwide ceremonies are being held to mark the Victory Day. In the capital Ankara, President RecepTayyip Erdogan and high-state officials attended a ceremony held in Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who founded the Republic of Turkiye after the War of Independence. A minute of silence was followed by the Turkish National Anthem.
