Turkish Interior Minister says 1 arrested after bombing

A bomb exploded on a major pedestrian avenue in the heart of Istanbul on Sunday, killing six people, wounding dozens and sending people fleeing as flames rose.

Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan called the blast a “treacherous attack” and said its perpetrators would be punished. On Monday, Turkey's interior minister announced that the Istanbul police service took into custody a person they believe responsible for a bomb attack in the city.He also said initial findings indicate that Kurdish militants were responsible for the deadly attack.
