The Siddhababa Tunnel in Nepal is under construction by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation.

This key national pride project is being built with an estimated cost of 52.5 million USD. The main excavation for the 1.12-kilometer Tunnel Road has now been completed. The next phase of work will focus on finishing the tunnel which will feature two lanes each 8.5 meters wide along with pedestrian sidewalks.

Once the tunnel is operational it will help reduce the dangers of landslides along the Siddhababa-Dobhan section of the Siddhartha Highway.  This area has long been prone to frequent landslides causing disruptions and safety risks even during dry seasons.

The tunnel will provide a safer and more dependable route for around 5000 vehicles that use this section of the highway daily. The tunnel features three emergency bypasses at key points providing alternative routes in case of any issues with the tunnel. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
