Tunisian President Appoints New Prime Minister amid Economic Challenges

Tunisian President Kais Saied received the newly appointed Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri on Friday, following the dismissal of Prime Minister Kamel Madouri. Zenzri, Formerly Tunisia’s Minister of Public Works assumed the role during a period of significant economic challenges in the country.

She becomes Tunisia’s second female prime minister, after Najla Bouden, who served from October 2021 to August 2023. The appointment comes as Tunisia continues to address pressing economic issues, with efforts focused on stabilizing the economy and managing public concerns.
