US President Donald Trump announced the signing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act on Tuesday, celebrating the immediate reopening of the federal government. He highlighted that the legislation will fund the vast majority of federal operations through the remainder of the fiscal year, ensuring stability and continuity in government services.
At the signing, Trump called the act “a great victory for the American people,” highlighting spending cuts, funding for the military, and reductions in what he described as “wasteful” items.
The legislation is a roughly $1.2 trillion omnibus appropriations package that provides full-year funding for most federal departments and agencies through September 30, 2026, while including a short-term continuing resolution for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through mid-February to allow further negotiation on immigration policy.
