U.S. President Donald Trump said progress is underway toward a potential ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict after a two-and-a-half-hour conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Donald Trump, US President said  "Should I tell you about the day first? My little conversation with a nice gentleman named Vladimir Putin. Actually we had a good talk. And I think that progress is being made. 5,000 young soldiers are being killed every single week on average."

Trump shared the update during a dinner event at the White House with members of the Kennedy Center’s board. He also emphasized the seriousness of the exchange and linked the development to broader U.S. diplomatic efforts. His remarks also included comments on the future role of the Kennedy Center in promoting national arts and culture.
