Trump presses Syria leader on Israel relations after lifting sanctions

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday attended a meeting with Gulf Cooperation Council-GCC leaders in Riyadh during his Gulf tour. During the meeting, Trump asked Syrian new leader to normalize relations with Israel after he offered a major boost to the country by announcing the lifting of sanctions. 

The leaders discussed avenues for Syrian-American partnership in counterterrorism efforts and the importance of lifting sanctions and supporting reconstruction.
