US media outlets are speculating that President Donald Trump has pushed back his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump took to social media on Sunday, proclaiming "Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!" But he did not elaborate.

The time represents exactly 24 hours after the deadline Trump announced in a social media message on March 26. He wrote at the time that US forces would not strike Iranian energy facilities before it expires. Trump also aired a warning in Saturday's social media post. He declared: "Time is running out -- 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them." This suggested that Iran had until Monday to make a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
