Trump orders deployment of troops to Portland

U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that he will deploy troops to Portland, the state of Oregon, to handle "domestic terrorists." He authorized the deployment of troops in the northwestern US city of Portland and at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, extending his contentious domestic use of the military.

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said in a statement in early September that, like other mayors across the country, he had not requested nor did he need "federal intervention." On Saturday, Wilson said that "the number of necessary troops is zero, in Portland and any other American city" after Trump ordered "all necessary Troops" to the city.
