Trump meets incoming New York City Mayor Mamdani

US President Donald Trump met face-to-face on Friday with the next leader of New York City, Zohran Mamdani. He congratulated him on his election win, saying he will be a "great mayor."  The president said the two had a "great meeting" at the White House.

He noted that they focused on topics like affordability and housing and that they agreed on a lot more than he expected. Mamdani stressed that the meeting was focused on a "shared admiration and love" of New York City. Mamdani is a 34-year-old Democrat who won the race for mayor earlier this month and is set to take office in January.
