Trump announces new fighter jets for a Michigan air base whose future was uncertain

On April 29, US President Donald Trump visited Michigan to announce a significant development for the Selfridge Air National Guard Base. He revealed that the base would receive 21 advanced F-15EX fighter jets, replacing the aging A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and securing the base's future as a key component of U.S. military readiness. 

This announcement marks a pivotal moment for Selfridge, which had faced uncertainty regarding its future. The introduction of the F-15EX jets is expected to bolster both national defense capabilities and the local economy, with an estimated $850 million economic impact on Michigan. ​
