Tropical Storm Peipah made landfall on western Japan

Tropical Storm Peipah made landfall on western Japan’s Shikoku island early Friday. Weather officials said the storm could bring heavy rains to wide areas with risks of floods and landslides. The storm is expected to travel east along Japan’s Pacific coast. It could produce more than 50 millimeters per hour of rain from western to northeastern Japan, and over 80 millimeters in some areas.
