Tree Planting Ceremony: Senior General plants teak sapling during the event

With the aims to preserve natural environment, to support the climatic condition, to provide shelter and to contribute to the state economy, monsoon tree planting ceremonies have been held annually at the Commander-in-Chief Office (Army, Navy, Air) families and respective military commands since 2011.

On Friday, 2024 monsoon tree planting ceremony of the Commander-in-Chief Office (Army, Navy, Air) was held near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw, with the participation of Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

In his speech, the Senior General highlighted that Myanmar’s forest coverage has been reduced gradually, with 42.19% in 2020. The world nations including Myanmar are facing various natural disasters due to degradation of forests caused by several circumstances. 

He stressed the need to make systematic supervision for greening tasks in the dry zones. He urged all to make efforts for thriving of trees for the posterities to enjoy green environ and better climatic condition. Tree planting agenda then followed with planting teak sapling by the Senior General and wife, and various saplings by the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, senior military officials and their wives, military officers, Tatmadawmen and families.

Over 2,400 saplings were planted during the ceremony. As of 2023, over 21 million saplings were planted by the Commander-in-Chief Office (Army, Navy, Air) families and respective military commands, with the thriving of more than 14 million trees, accounting for about 65%.
