Tree planting ceremony: MoRAC Union Minister joined the tree planting

The Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko joined the 2023 monsoon season tree planting ceremony organized by the Ministry near the mango farm at the east of the ministry at 9:30 Am on July 8.

First, the Union Minister said regarding with the planting trees, Myanmar is an agro-based country and the people are greatly delighted to plant the trees from the small scale to the large scale since the time of ancestors and as the tree planting is admired as performing a good deed, the country was covered with the forest.

The 7th of July is an International Day of tree planting. According to a report of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), Myanmar was covered by forest at 51.54% of total area of the country in 2000 but in 2020, the forest coverage of the country has reduced at 42.19%. It shows the decrease of forest coverage area and deforestation.

Now, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area is the capacity of the country and the development works for it is being carried out. It’s targeted to be Green City, Clean City and Smart City and a model City as well for other regions and states. So, the residents and civil service personnel living in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area are urged to cooperate to achieve the target.

Next, the Union Minister U Ko Ko, Deputy Minister Daw Nu Mra Zan, permanent secretary, directors General, Deputy permanent secretaries and Deputy directors General, officers and staff members planted the teakwood saplings happily.

Then, the Union Minister, Deputy Minister and departmental officials viewed and encouraged the tree planting by the officers and staff members. At the ceremony, 300 teakwood saplings were planted and 2100 teakwood plants and 2450 Sein Ta Lone mango trees planted last year are getting well growth.
