Transportation Facilities: SAC Chairman inspects bridge construction projects

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Bago River Crossing (Thanlyin Bridge No.3), connecting Thaketa and Thanlyin Townships on Sunday. Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant reported on the work undertakings, the benefits gained the project, quality control and worksite safety and environmental conservation works.

The Prime Minister instructed to carry out the tasks systematically to meet the set standard and to complete the project within the targeted time. They later inspected the progress of the construction project. Upon completion of the Bago River Crossing (Thanlyin Bridge No.3) project, it could help reduce traffic jam along Thanlyin Bridge No.1. Moreover, socio-economic life of locals in Yangon and townships in southern district will be improved along with the development of local and forieng busineses in Thilawa Special Economic Zone.

In addition, it will connect PaAn-Myawady areas via East-West Economic Corridor that could lead to development of Mon and Kayin States. It will also help development of transportation access with regional countries. The Prime Minister and party later arrived at Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge Project, connecting Yangon and Dala. The Union Minister reported on the progress of works, quality control, worksite safety and environmental conservation measures.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to pay special attention for worksite safety and quake resistant measures since it is situated close to the residential areas. He also instructed for timely completion of the tasks. He later presented honorary cash awards to the engineers assigned at the project. They then inspected the work undertakings on Yangon site.

Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge Project was initiated in 2012 during the visit of the then President U Thein Sein to Korea. The project commenced in 2013, and the construction works started in 2015. It is a Cable – Stayed Bridge type, and upon completion, it will provides smooth transportation access from Yangon to Dala, Twantay, Kawthmu and Kunchankoen Townships and Ayeyawady Region including the beach areas via Dedaye Bridge.

The traffic conditions in Yangon City will also be eased to some extent. The bridge will become one of the Landmark of Yangon City with the contribution for development in social, economic, eduation, health and transportation sectors.
