





183 highway bus lines which have suspended services during the Thingyan festival have resumed their operations with over 1,000 buses starting from the 18thof April.
The Aung Mingalar highway bus station and Dagon Ayeyar highway bus station in Yangon Region operate transport services with over 2,900 buses.
Committee member, YRTC, Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Station, Ba Myint, said " This year, on the 10thof April, over 30,000 passengers went traveling – it broke the record. Not to have traffic congestion, we reported to the YRTC and also requested for more traffic police. On the 17thof April, 5 bus lines started their service and on the 18th of April, all the bus lines resumed operation for travelers would come back to Yangon."
The committee member also explained plans to operate the bus lines systematically without any difficulty.
Committee member, YRTC, Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Station, Ba Myint, said " We always take care of the convenience of the highway bus passengers. If there are problems, we solve immediately. The bus lines should follow the rules –they are not allowed to carry illegal things, especially drugs. We always tell them not to do this at every meeting and issue a notice. The in charges of bus lines also have to check carefully before the bus leaves the terminal."
There are 224 highway bus lines in Myanmar – 97 lines in Yangon and the rest in regions and states.
