

The Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, visited the 66/11 kV transformer expansion project currently underway at the Tanintharyi Power Substation in Dawei Township in the morning on January 20.
Initially, the Chief Engineer of the Tanintharyi Region Electric Power Department provided a detailed explanation of the 66/11 kV, 15 MVA transformer expansion and installation project being carried out at the Dawei Power Substation.
Following this, the Chief Minister, U Myat Ko, emphasized that the electricity consumption has been increasing due to the growing number of tourists visiting hotels, motels, and guesthouses within the Dawei District. He also mentioned that the regional government plans to build a 66 kV power substation, and that if 30 MW of hydropower from the Faung Taw area can be distributed, it would help improve the electricity supply in the Dawei District.
The Chief Minister inspected the electricity generation, transmission, and distribution situation in the Dawei District, the electricity consumption status in Dawei Township, and the layout plan for the new 66/11 kV, 15 MVA transformer to be installed at the Dawei Power Substation. He also reviewed the materials to be used for the transformer expansion project.
Once the expansion project at Dawei Power Substation is completed, the original capacity of 40 MVA will be increased to 55 MVA, which will fully meet the electricity needs of the DaweiDistrict, it’s reported.
