





The 19th Ministers Meeting on Transboundary Haze Pollution Control was held in Bangkok of Thailand on Wednesday. The event was held with the aims for implementation of transboundary haze pollution agreement in ASEAN region, promoting cooperation in regional haze pollution control, and accelerating cooperation in facing regional environmental challenges not only among neighbouring countries but also in ASEAN Region.
The opening ceremony was attended by Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi together with the ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretary, directors general and many other concerned officials from ASEAN member States. After delivering an opening speech by the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Thailand, attendees posed for commemorative group photo.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi discussed the Myanmar’s efforts on controlling and prevention of transboundary haze pollution by collaboration with ASEAN member countries. During the meeting, discussions were made upon Fire Hotspot and haze pollution, weather forecasting on haze emerging and implementation for haze controlling.
Likewise, ASEAN cooperation on transboundary haze pollution control roadmap (2023-2030) and ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy 2023-2030 were adopted. The attendees also discussed matters on implementation of ASEAN investment policy for long-term land management with haze clearance and establishing of ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Transboundary Haze Pollution Control.
The meeting adopted the statements on promotion ASEAN cooperation upon tranboundary haze pollution, reducing fire hotspot, constant implementation of policies and framworks on tranboundary haze pollution through collaboration with regional and international organizations.
