Training opening ceremony: Auditor and enumerator training course for census

The opening ceremony of Township level auditor and enumerator training course for 2024 Population and Housing Census was held at the Khine Thazin Hall in Sittwe Township of Rakhine State on September 17 and attended by State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, Chief Justice of State High Court, State Government Ministers, Senior military officials from Sittwe station and members of State/district/township census committees, training instructors and trainees.

At the opening ceremony of the training course, Chairman of the State Census Supervisory Committee and Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Htein Lin  announced that the 2024 population and housing census will begin on October 1st, 2024, and will continue until October 15, 2024. He mentioned that preparations for the census have been underway for the past three years and that advancements in technology have led to significant improvements in the census process. This includes creating new maps for the entire country, developing a CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) system, designing and developing the census application, preparing question forms and manuals, and distributing census-related materials and public awareness resources. He noted that these preparations have been carried out by staff from the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and that the census is now ready to proceed.

Next, the Committee secretary clarified the auditing and enumeration process and the Committee Chairman Chief Minister and officials handed the training aid materials.

Then, the 2024 Population and Housing Census public awareness MTV was screened and the Chief Minister and officials cordially greeted the trainees. The training is attended by 140 trainees and it will take place for 10 days, it’s reported.
