Traditional Water Festival: Opening of Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion

Opening of the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion took place on Thursday. Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, members of the State Administration Council, union ministers and many other officials as well as Yein troupes and invited guests attended the opening ceremony. During the ceremony, Nay Pyi Taw Mayor U Tin Oo Lwin gave an opening address.

And, the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win, union ministers and the Mayor ceremonially opened this Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion. Thingyan is the Myanmar’s New Year Festival that usually occurs in middle of April.

The dates of the festival are observed as public holidays throughout the country, and are part of the summer holidays at the end of the school year. This year, the Myanmar traditional Thingyan water festival falls from the 13th to the 16th of April.
